Who: Elementary School, Middle School, High School, College and Adult.

What: Unleash the artist in you! Join us for downtown Rochester’s 9th annual skateboard art exhibition  and competition! Participants are given a blank skateboard deck to use as their canvas; any medium is acceptable for 2 and 3-dimensional pieces.

Where: Completed artwork will be placed on display throughout as many as 50 businesses in
downtown Rochester. Onlookers can enjoy and admire these uniquely designed pieces of artwork
while strolling in and out of businesses.

When: May 9 & 10, 5:00 - 9:00 pm.

Deck Cost: $20.00 (plus tax) Registration and deck pick up at South Street Skateshop (410 Main).

Judging: A panel of judges will choose a winner in each category. Prizes awarded.

IMPORTANT DATES

  • Registration begins February 1; deadline to register is Friday, April 12.

  • Drop off registration forms and pick up decks ONLY at South Street Skateshop (410 Main), February 1 - April 12.

  • Submit completed artwork April 15- April 26 to Rochester DDA (308 1/2 Main).

  • Find your board’s location during Deck Art on May 9 & 10.

  • Artwork will remain on display through Friday, May 17.

THE EVENT

The Thursday Night Kickoff will take place on May 9 from 5:00 – 9:00 pm. Attendees will preview Deck Art 2019 and Kids can also partake in a craft activity located outside 308 Main from 5:00 - 8:00 pm.

Deck Art 2019 will continue Friday, May 10 with the official Competition and Exhibition Crawl from 5:00 – 9:00 pm. The Crawl will begin at any participating business where attendees and artists can pick up the official “Crawl” maps. Artists aren't informed of their artwork's placement, so they must “crawl” from business to business until their artwork is found. Enjoy interactive chalk art again on E. Fourth Street. The kids’ craft will continue outside of 308 Main.

A panel of judges will select one winner from the five categories – elementary school, middle school, high school, college, and adult. Winning decks will be identified with a special ribbon.
