The 39th annual Lagniappe officially kicks-off the holiday season in downtown Rochester. As usual, there will be carolers, horse-drawn carriage rides, a visit from Santa Claus and the debut of the 2011 Big, Bright Light Show! Merchants are asked to offer “lagniappe,” Creole for “a little something extra” to their customers as a token of appreciation for their support throughout the year.

The Big, Bright Light Show, a holiday display unlike any in the Midwest, is entering its sixth year. As with previous years, the buildings of Main Street will be covered in big, bright lights beginning at the South Bridge and will extend all the way north to Romeo Road.
